Phoebe Fairweather is an American artist who was born in Southampton, New York. Phoebe focuses on creating small-scale soulful pieces. She has experimented with a variety of mediums, but is well-versed in oil painting, sculpture and pastel drawing. She creates pieces that are in dialogue with the great artists of the past, such as Joan Mitchell, Frank Stella, Helen Frankenthaler, and most notably her late step-father, John Chamberlain. She has always been attracted to a diverse color palette, because of color’s innate nature to provoke a strong emotional response. Phoebe is perhaps best known for her abstract compositions, which take inspiration from her natural surroundings. Phoebe attended Barnard College but left to pursue a career as an artist. She likes reading and watching old movies.
